GET MY LOOK
One of my favorite things to do is dress-up for the holidays. I feel like I can never have enough excuses to put on a dress! Finding the right dress is always a task, but when you do find it, it’s such a great feeling. This year, I decided to try out the popular velvet trend. At first I was hesitant about velvet making its way back into my life ( it totally brings me back to the 90’s) but honestly, I LOVE IT and I had to find a way to incorporate it into my holiday look.
Right now you can find velvet almost anywhere, but I was looking for something that would transition easily into my wardrobe and not stick out like a sore thumb. You really cannot go wrong with a wrap dress. Its classic, universally flattering, and is very comfortable. This NastyGal velvet dress was the PERFECT option for me and checked off all of my boxes. I love the silver/champagne color that it gives off in the light. The dress totally shines on its own, but I wanted to add a touch of glam to it (which never hurts). I bought a shaggy faux-fur jacket from Ann Taylor last year and knew it would compliment the dress so well and add a nice pop of color. Unfortunately, it is no longer available, but I linked a couple of similar jackets above, which would totally do the trick. The heels that I paired this look with are also an older J.Crew style and are no longer available, but I linked a great alternative (velvet!) shoe option, which I actually love so much more with this look.
I am wearing this dress to my company holiday party (without the jacket), but I could totally pull this look off again for New Years because it has that glitzy look to it. It is seriously the perfect dress and it is under $100! What are you guys wearing to your holiday parties and what do you think of the velvet trend? Let me know in the comments below. I would love to know!
